| The 2009 Session |
|
The Bowling team has played very well in the first season now drawing to a close and I’m sure we’ve all enjoyed meeting new friends. One or two of the “Friendlies” had to be cancelled due to bad weather but we had great fun at the matches that did take place, notably when we visited Newhills during their centenary year and were each presented with a commemorative lapel badge and pen. The Churches League has been revitalised by the addition of our new team and in a recent publication sent out to all church magazines, the President, Heather Smith, has expressed her thanks to Northfield for taking up the invitation to join the League.
The Pairs matches will be played this week. In the first round Robert and Betty will play Mixed Pairs (2x4x2) Vs Ferryhill, and Muriel and Cath the Open pairs (4x4) Vs Queen St. “Be Up” (bowls-speak for good luck)
Prizes for all competitions will be presented at a Social Evening on Thursday 5th November @ 7.30 p.m. Ferryhill Parish Church, Fonthill Road. All members invited.

This Trophy was discovered recently in a cupboard in the Committee Room. It was first presented to George McRobbie as Singles Champion of Northfield Church Bowling Club in 1958.
I would like to organise a competition over the next few weeks to find a champion for this year. Would all interested please enter their names for the draw to take place on Sunday 23rd August. Meantime Northfield green will be open for bounce games Monday and Thursday evenings up to September holiday Monday.
