| What is Harvest Thanksgiving? |
Harvest thanksgiving or the festival of the harvest is an annual event normally held on the Sunday closest to the first full moon at the end of September or the start of October.
The festival is held to congratulate the farmers on their hard work and effort in growing the produce over the year and to give thanks for the harvest.
This festival has been celebrated all over Europe since before the Romans.
At Northfield Parish church, we celebrate Harvest Thanksgiving by collecting non perishable goods which is then distributed through out the community.
All are welcome to attend the service and to bring along something, even if it is just a tin of beans. Together we can and will make a difference.

The harvest thanksgiving takes place yearly on the first Sunday of October. Traditionally the celebrations marks the gathering of the harvest and the storing of the crops for the long winter that lies ahead.
The collection of harvest goods this year will again be going to the Aberdeen syngorians, with a large collection of tins, pasta, sauces, rice and other non perishable goods. On Friday 9th October, the pupils and staff from Heatheryburn and West park school will visit Northfield Parish Church for their annual thanks giving service. The pupils are invited to bring along perishable goods for distribution within the community.
